Targets Man Utd should avoid
Cant wait to see the back of Pogba, and as for DDG-we should take the money whats on offer instead of risking losing him for free in January.Dybala is not a striker,we need someone else to replace Lukaku!

Stay away from Greizman,Bale,James,Rakitic,Perisic and the likes of has beens.
redblood
I would stay away from Umtiti i dont rate him. Maguire, not a fan of.
I would sniff around Porto and Benfica´s Cb´s.
Dybala and Costa sounds good to me but Pepe is highly rated winger, stay away from Bale.
Grimaldi for Shaw.
Then we have the problem for a decade now, central midfield,a total rewamp is urgent.
Massive job ahead for Ole.
Zico
if our management team think that Dalot, Lindelof, Smalling and Shaw is a defence ready to win the league then we might as well not participate next season. At least 3 of those 4 aren’t good enough for a Top 10 team, let alone a title-winning team.
Wan Bissaka (or Cancelo) and a quality CB are the very least we need; if we had to be brutally honest we should actually replace the entire backline because even Smalling/Lindelof and Shaw aren’t good enough.
Cheers

D.v d Beek should replace Fred! Or somebody like T.Ndombele.

Van der Beek defo worth a punt. Glad we’re not going near Sancho. The money they are talking about is crazy for a player after one break out season. We’re not in a position to gamble with signings. We need to start getting players right so we can build something.
N1xer
You can always gamble on young players. If it doesn’t work they have sell on value, a la Depay.
I’d easily risk £100m on Sancho. If he stays at Utd for the rest of his career £100m will be peanuts.
Manthistle
Cancelo, Maguire, Rice, Dembele, James.
Young, Smalling, Matic, Lukaku, Lingard replaced in first 11.
If Pogba goes, buy another midfielder.
As for Dybala and Costa – no thanks. Douglas Costa is 29 in September – South American winger looking for last big pay day ring any bells?
As for Dybala, a pure luxury player that would add icing to a cake like Man City but would absolutely struggle in the sea of mediocrity surrounding him at United.
I hope we dont spunk 130m on Koulibaly. He turns 28 in June and he has struggled anytime Ive seen him play English teams in Europe.
moral
Ziyech apparently has a 22m buy out clause – how has no one triggered it yet?
Brandt of Bayer Leverkusen also apparently has a 25m buy out clause if they fail to make the Champions League (1 game left and equal on points with 4th place but lower GD). 6 goals and 14 assists at 23 years old is decent, can play down the wings or as a forward.
Imagine those two for less than 50m – quite the deals!
Would also stay away from Douglas Costa though – he’s not at an age where we want to get players in unless they’re truly world class.

Do United have a plan?
My issue is very fundamental. I have loved Manchester United since I can remember because it gave me a feeling of being behind a team that says “we can do it regardless of the circumstance because we have quality, tradition, and balls”.
I now find myself dealing with a completely different animal from the top down as a football club. It has forced me to turn to history to find answers..
We are on a downward spiral that will not stop until the money stops. Until the Glazers leave we are royally screwed and will only enjoy momentary glories in big “wins” against rivals or small cup wins. The level of investment required from now onwards is beyond the comprehension of Woodward and the board.
We still have the most bloated, inefficient scouting team in European football and we continue to have the most archaic football structure known to the decent professional football clubs. Old Trafford maintenance even embarrassed us in front of the entire planet last season when we had a massive f***ing leak pouring water onto the pitch before a big game against Manchester City (which we lost) FFS!
I am royally f***ed off at Woodward and the Glazers. They need to be first on the priority list of any Manchester United fan’s talking points instead of the usual transfer talk. They are sucking the life out of us every day FFS!!
If I wasn’t clear the first time.. The football club is completely f***ed until the Glazers and Woodward leave. Simple as that.

I can’t see it being rip and replace either. Ole has already said no title challenge next season and that we have to rebuild sensibly, over time. Not exactly what we were hoping to hear but, at the very least, there is the semblance of there being a plan in place. If it’s a 3 year plan to get us back to the top then that’s a good start. We’ll certainly need to keep hold of Ole during that time so that we don’t continue to have a squad of strangers from different managers walking around the pitch with no f***ing clue!
It will be a combination of promoting youth, getting the best out of some of the “stars” we already have and shipping out some of the utter sh**e in the ranks.
Darmian, Rojo and Valencia simply must be added to Herrera and Fellaini.
I’m sure Ole will be giving a chance to Tuanzebe and TFM as well keeping Greenwood, Gomes and Chong around the first team.
I think there’ll be a surprise casualty as well, someone like Matic. (Maybe won’t be that big of a surprise). So it’s a right back, a centre back and a right winger. CM as well, especially if Matic goes too.
It’s 4 players tops.
That’s a good start.
Then next summer the same again until we get it right.
Whatever happens this summer we’ll definitely have the likes of Martial, Pogba, Lingard and Lukaku in the squad next season I’d say.

there’s little doubt that Jose was correct regarding structure etc, however a lot has been made recently with regards to putting a structure and a plan in place. The press is full of stories of linking us to all and sundry for a DoF or a Technical Director etc.
Ole speaks of a plan, too.
I disagree with Ole’s assessment that we do not need a CB – we patently do – but that may be more to do with the number of players we can bring in and settle into the team in a single window. Many on here were overjoyed when Herrera left. Some thought there were bigger priorities. Like CB.
It’s all part of the bigger plan.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens with the DoF, and the longer the wait goes on the less effective they will be this summer. However, should we eventually bring one in it has to been seen as a sign of change, surely?
AlfieO7
When the club says it will support the manager it means there will be at least one transfer. They said they’d support Moyyes and all he got was Fellaini in the summer. Ole probably knows the financial situation and hence the slowly over time spin. Yes of course we will spend but it will be under-investment considering the team needs a rebuild not merely strengthening or improvement.
Its just baloney and sour grapes from Jose. He talks of structure but what does he mean. He opposed a DoF. As for scouting he brought in his cronies so can’t complain there. He has nobody to blame for the failure of his signings other than himself.
I think Pogba will leave this summer. CL football, 25% wage cut and no title challenge next season. And if he leaves he’s got wage increase and excellent chance of title and CL medals. Plus the attractions that sunny Spain or France can offer. And DDG may very well be off as well. I would not be surprised if it turns out like when Ronnie left, the club ending up with a transfer profit or neglible spend.

Could Chelsea injuries have been avoided?
We may very probably be without RLC and Kanté for the final. It’s unfortunate to be honest. I did not see the match, but come on, this is a continent where winter is 6 months long and we are barely spring here. No wonder that the pitch is not in a good state. Some of MLS teams play on artificial turf. Drogba played here before and he did not like to play on artificial turf but what can we say. It’s a 6 months of winter. And have to say that I injured my knee due to artificial turf too. No more playing soccer for me, finished, unfortunately.
My point is any European teams who come to North America, especially the north part and Canada, cannot expect an equal quality of field than in Europe.
Not sure who planned the match, but I think we just have to live with it now. Let’s move forward.

I think we can all agree that it’s a very worthwhile cause played at the wrong time of the seaso and its cost us RLC for a European Final and probably the beginning of the season too.
Can’t do anything about that now and it potentially opens up a starting place for Barkley who was also named in the England squad today.
nine nine nine
While I started to see RLC cementing his place, Barkley on the other hand: I am not convinced yet. But yes, it’s a good opportunity for him to show what he can do. If Kanté recovers, I think Sarri will start with the trio Kovacic, Jorg and Kanté. All defensive. And it may not be a bad thing as Arsenal’s offence is clearly good with Auba and Lacazette

I wonder if Roman would have been quite so keen on playing this ‘charity game’ if it was the CL final we were contesting in a few weeks time. I think not!! Yes it’s a very decent cause but surely Roman and the club could have come up with something else…something not requiring our exhausted players to travel halfway around the world to play on a pitch that’s not even fit for Sunday league football.
Stuilse
Despite the injuries, end of a two year window that included a World Cup, injuries do happen, pitches aren’t great elsewhere around the world, injuries happen and sadly that’s The way it is.
But regardless, I’m really happy and excited that we’re in another showpiece final.
It’s good for the club and fans. Essentially it’s a London derby but is essentially being played behind closed doors given the difficulty of the finals location and ticket allocation. So, on that basis I’m not even going to call it. Let the two sides go for it and I’ll bite my finger nails to the bone on final night. Got to say I’m really looking forward to it and do hope sarri can win a little bit of silverware for the club so he can make a decision to leave or soldier on and try and win some sections of the fan base over. More importantly than that, the club needs to keep winning and foster a winning spirit through the squad.
We can bloody well do it! Keep the blue flag flying high everyone!

Liverpool fans discuss Man City’s FFP investigation
Out of the 49 million they got fined 5 years ago they should have to re-pay the 33 million that they got refunded for complying (broke probation) get banned from the CL for a year and get deducted 1.1 points in the League! Give me that judge’s job!
Rob Fort Worth TX
The seasons over we came a brilliant second, would take a 10pt deduction for next season. Clubs get this for going into administration, why not give at the other end of the spectrum

This section copied from the Guardian gives a good understanding of City and their attitude to fair play:
Back when Fifa’s president, Gianni Infantino, was still Uefa’s general secretary another leaked document allegedly stated a City lawyer had imparted to Infantino club chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak’s views on punishing them with a fine. According to this lawyer, Mubarak would “rather spend £30m on the 50 best lawyers in the world to sue them for the next 10 years”. This, City allegedly informed Infantino, was a great chance for Uefa “to avoid the destruction of their rules and their organisation”.
If you read that comment, that is basically a gangster threat! Well basically grind you (Ufea) into the ground until you are broke. City would rather spend millions of pounds to sue Ufea and keep the whole FFP thing going forever in courts than anything else. In fact I read the other day that the owners of City could basically bankrupt Ufea if they wanted to, this is how much power they have! So this is why fines dont work with City, you have to find another way to punish them and thats why Ufea wants to ban then from CL, they know thats the one thing that could affect them. But scary stuff to be honest and kudos to Ufea for at least trying to stand up to City, PL needs to fixup itself and do similar. Not sure of the outcome but lets hope football wins.
Turkish team Galatasaray were banned form Europe I beleive so there is president for Ufea banning a club from the CL for breaking FFP rules, they just need to stand strong against the might team that has an ower worth 100s of billions.
