Relegated LaLiga outfit Girona are understood to have placed Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa at the top of the summer wish list.
Catalan outfit Girona are looking for a new coach after sacking Eusebio Sacristan, who had one year left on his contract.
Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Deportivo Alaves mean Girona managed just three points from the last 30 and condemned them to relegation which saw Eusebio given the boot.
Girona are therefore looking for a replacement and Catalunya radio report that the club want Leeds coach Bielsa as coach for next season.
The report claims 63-year-old Bielsa is though wanted by Roma and Celta Vigo and has “high wages”.
Uruguayan coach Gustavo Poyet is also a candidate after being dismissed by Bordeaux in September, while SD Huesca’s 40-year-old boss Francisco Huesca is also on the short-list, but Bielsa is the “priority”.
Roma are also firmly in the equation, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, with Sampdoria’s Marco Giampaolo their ‘Plan B’.
Roma caretaker manager Claudio Ranieri has confirmed that he will step aside after two months in the post.
Meanwhile, TMW report there is a “concrete offer” from Celta Vigo.
The Yorkshire Evening Post though have reported that “sources close to the Argentinian” believe Bielsa is ready to agree another season at the helm after being beaten in the play-offs by Derby last week.
Bielsa met with Leeds director of football Victor Orta over the weekend and the dialogue was “positive” and the Whites are hoping to secure Bielsa for another season before he disappears home to Argentina for the summer.
