Crystal Palace are holding out for double the fee that Manchester United have offered them for right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, a report claims.
Wan-Bissaka was one of the best young players in the Premier League in the 2018-19 season, and with Man Utd looking for English talent to start their rebuilding process, the 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
Antonio Valencia will leave the club this summer while Matteo Darmian could also depart, meaning Solskjaer needs cover at right-back.
According to The Independent, United wanted to bid a maximum of £40m for the England U21 international, but Palace are holding out for nearly double that, refusing to consider any offers lower than £70m.
Roy Hodgson’s side are not under pressure to sell, with the club expected to draw a large fee from the potential sale of Wilfried Zaha, who has publicly admitted that he wants to play in the Champions League.
In a further blow for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pursuit of Wan-Bissaka, the player has personally distanced himself from transfer speculation.
“The situation just shows that my performances don’t go unnoticed,” Wan-Bissaka told the Evening Standard recently.
“But I am with Crystal Palace at the moment. That is where my contract is and that is where I will be next season.
“I have got three years left on my contract. It says I am going to be there, so that is all I can focus on now.”
