Liverpool and Hertha Berlin are in talks over the future of one of Europe’s most-improved midfielders, while Tottenham have a strong chance of bringing a Brazil winger to north London, according to Monday’s European newspapers.
HERTHA BERLIN LOOKING TO EXTEND GRUJIC STAY
Hertha Berlin have held talks over another season-long loan deal for Marko Grujic, according to reports in the German media.
The Serbian midfielder has enjoyed a stellar season in the Bundesliga with Hertha and there were rumours he would be the subject of a €40m offer from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.
But with Liverpool in no hurry to sell, Jurgen Klopp is happy for the midfielder to continue his development in the Bundesliga and Kicker claims the two clubs have held talks over an extension to his loan stint in the German capital.
And Hertha’s general manager Michael Preetz has admitted talks are ongoing between the two clubs and he was quoted as saying in the Liverpool Echo: “I’ll keep the ball rolling and our goal is to extend the loan by one year.
“We have a permanent exchange with Liverpool FC and have had some personal talks with Jurgen Klopp over the past week about Marko.
“Liverpool will sit down after the Champions League final to discuss the squad for the next season. We think Marko would do well for another season in Berlin to reach the level that Liverpool play.
“Marko himself would like to stay. I cannot promise anything – only that I will try everything that the boy plays next year in Berlin.”
It’s believed Liverpool’s plan would be to make a long-term decision on Grujic’s future in a year’s time. The former Red Star Belgrade man is contracted to Liverpool until 2023 so time is on the Reds’ side, but if the player continues to improve the way he has done this season, Grujic could yet carve himself out a future on Merseyside.

MAN UTD STEP UP INTEREST IN GRIEZMANN, DYBALA
Manchester United are being tipped to make firm approaches for two of European football’s star attackers in Paulo Dybala and Antoine Griezmann, according to various reports.
Griezmann has played his final match for Atletico Madrid and has confirmed he leave the Wanda Metropolitano this summer when his exit clause reduces to €104m.
A move for Barcelona is widely expected, but reports in Spain over the weekend claim a number of the Catalan club’s senior stars are opposed to his signing this summer and have already voiced that opinion to the club’s hierarchy.
And according to Sport, that will let Manchester United in through the back door with the Red Devils ready to activate his release clause and finally bring the Frenchman to Old Trafford, having come so close to signing him two summers ago. As such, it’s claimed United are readying an approach to the France forward’s agent.
The 2018 World Cup winner, who scored 21 times for Atletico during the 2018-19 season and he is seen as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s dream replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
Meanwhile, United continue to be linked with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, with reports again suggesting an approach is imminent from the Old Trafford outfit.
Dybala’s brother and agent confirmed last week the Argentinian forward would leave Turin this summer, with Cristiano Ronaldo touted as the main reason.
And his brother has been speaking again, this time telling Futbolemico: “I can’t say where he’ll go, but there is a strong chance Paulo will leave.
“Of course he’s not happy there. Paulo’s not the only one, there are many players who are uncomfortable at Juve.
“He won’t be the one who will leave Juve this summer.”
Dybala is rated at around €95m by Juventus and is seen as a long-term successor to Alexis Sanchez.
