Celtic make shock Jose Mourinho offer, claims pundit Chris Sutton has revealed that Celtic have put an offer to Jose Mourinho to return to management with Celtic. The Portuguese coach has been out of management since getting the sack at Manchester United in December, although it’s understood he has not been short of offers. And former Celtic striker Sutton says that the Scottish Premier League champions have submitted an offer to Mourinho to take over from Neil Lennon this summer. Lennon replaced Brendan Rodgers until the end of the season in February and is one win away from a clean sweep of domestic trophies for the third successive season. The former Celtic midfielder also believes he is in a strong position and claims the club will not approach the subject until after next weekend’s cup final. “I never said I wanted [the manager’s job] long term,” Lennon said last week. “My contract here expires at the end of May and after the cup final I’ll sit down with whoever, and that’s always been the case. “Nothing has changed, despite all the speculation whether I’m getting the job, whether it’s Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho, Slaven Bilic or whoever. “As far as I’m aware, the club aren’t speaking to anybody until after the final. I’m in a strong position anyway.” Sutton though does not believe that is the case and when asked who he would like to see get the job, told BT Sport: “[Massimiliano] Allegri from Juventus, [but] it’s not going to happen. “It’s so tough to stand here and say who will be the next Celtic manager because it’s a big job. “There’s going to be a lot of managers in for it. Mourinho was heavily linked and I’m led to believe that there was something in that in terms of there being an offer. “But why would he take the Celtic job? I just don’t get it. “I don’t know the exact terms but there was an offer.”   The post Celtic make shock Jose Mourinho offer, claims pundit appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING
