Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was bursting with pride after watching his side knock Man City out of the Champions League in an incredible game at The Etihad.
City thought they had snatched a winner in the third minute of added time when Raheem Sterling finished off Sergio Aguero’s pass.
But when Christian Eriksen gave the ball away, Aguero was in an offside position and the goal was chalked off by VAR.
Tottenham then held on in a dramatic finish to end City’s hopes of securing the quadruple this season.
After winning 1-0 at home, a 4-3 defeat was good enough to send them into a semi-final with Ajax on away goals.
Pochettino told BT Sport: “It was unbelievable – the way it finished. I am so happy, so proud. My players are heroes to be here. I am so happy for them, so happy for the fans.
“In a moment many things happened in your head, the disappointment was massive but they changed the decision. That is why we love football. Today we showed great character and great personality it was an unbelievable game.”
City boss Pep Guardiola said: “We missed a penalty in the first leg, we created a lot of chances against a tough team… We made a mistake for the first two goals. But we were honest in the way we played. We tried until the end. What we’ve done in these two seasons is incredible.”
