On April 1 the Daily Record reported that Spanish midfielder Herrera has signed a pre-contract agreement with PSG and now that news has been echoed by The Times. The report claims the 29-year-old has agreed a three-year contract and he will earn close to £200,000 per week, which is a considerable improvement on his current wage of £80,000 per week. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having signed a deal to stay as manager for the next three seasons, clearly wanted the £29million signing from Athletic Bilbao to stay. “We want the best players in this club,” he said last month. “Let’s hope club and player find an agreement. We will have a strong squad next season. Ander has been very good since I came in.” The two parties have held talks but were apparently too far apart with the financial part of the deal and instead Herrera has opted to head to Ligue 1. The report also claims “United are looking to sign up to two midfielders this summer” West Ham’s Declan Rice and Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez among their top targets.
