Tim Sherwood offers blunt opinion on Liverpool title chances Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood believes Manchester City will pip Liverpool to the Premier League title, even though he thinks it isn’t their priority. The pair sit level on points, with City leading the Premier League on goal-difference alone. The Reds are chasing their first league title in the Premier League era, while the Citizens are looking to retain the trophy which they destroyed the competition to claim last season. But, speaking on Sky Sports’ The Debate, Sherwood cast doubt over Liverpool’s chances. “Yes, City want to win the domestic league but the players, the hierarchy there and the manager want to win the Champions League. That’s their priority. “I’m not going to say they’re going to take their foot off the pedal by any means in the Premier League. They’ll want to win it back to back. “Advantage is Liverpool, but look over your shoulders because City are coming. “I backed City at the start of the season and I won’t change my mind because they will catch Liverpool.” Sherwood also said Liverpool are heading into their clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday at the worst possible time, with the Red Devils undefeated in Premier League competition under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. “You couldn’t pick a worse time to play Manchester United,” he explained. “If you asked United when they wanted to play this game they would pick now because they are flying. If they want to mess up anyone’s season it’s Liverpool. “They’ve got top four to play for themselves and Solskjaer is doing a good dress rehearsal at the moment [for the permanent job]. This is their biggest game of the season. “When it means so much to either side it means more to Liverpool than United because they are in touching distance of the title.”   Get the latest personalised Reds products on our new TEAMtalk Liverpool shop!   The post Tim Sherwood offers blunt opinion on Liverpool title chances appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING
