As a result the Dane thinks the former Red Devils frontman is the leading candidate to be given the job full-time, when Ed Woodward decides at the end of the campaign. Schmeichel though thinks the next five matches – including a two-legged Champions League tie with PSG and games against Liverpool and Chelsea – will be massive. The former United stopper told beIN SPORTS: “He’s doing exceptionally well. He’s adjusted the parameters that had to be adjusted. “He’s lightened up the mood, he’s made them play aggressive football, but he’s a temporary manager. So he’s really got nothing to lose in that respect. “Now of course he’s had a taste for it, he wants the job. “This is a big test for him. You’ve got Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, PSG home and away in the next five games. “How is he doing there? He’s the closest contender.
