Liverpool target Tottenham’s bizarre £35m Christian Eriksen replacement Christian Eriksen has reportedly rejected three new contract offers at Tottenham Hotspur amid reports the club are lining up a replacement. The Denmark international has been linked with a move away from the club with his Spurs deal set to expire in 2020 and transfer expert Ian McGarry has told The Transfer Window podcast that he expects Eriksen to be on the move this summer. “He has 17 months left on his contract and has already rejected three different contract upgrade offers from Tottenham,” McGarry said. “Barcelona have already made contact with his representatives with regards to a deal that would more than double his wages, which currently are around £67,000 a week.” With that in mind Spurs are looking around for a replacement and the Daily Express claim West Ham’s Declan Rice is the subject of interest from Tottenham and Liverpool. Tottenham are planning a £35million move to sign Rice, who has been converted from a defensive role to a midfield role at the London Stadium. ESPN claim “Mauricio Pochettino is allegedly planning for life without Christian Eriksen next season, and Hammers star Rice could be the perfect replacement”. We’re not quite sure Spurs fans would see a former centre-back as the man to fill the void left by Eriksen if he was to depart this summer. One goal and one assist in 26 games for West Ham this season would hardly be the perfect man to replace the mercurial Eriksen. Liverpool are also chasing 20-year-old Rice, who recently penned a new deal with the Hammers until 2024 after some impressive performances in a holding midfield role.
