Liverpool legend forced to eat his words over assessment of Man Utd star Jamie Carragher has admitted that he was wrong about his criticism of Paul Pogba after the Manchester United midfielder’s recent upturn in form. The Frenchman, along with the rest of the United squad, had a suffered a pour start to the season prior to Jose Mourinho’s sacking in December. However, Pogba now has six assists and nine goals in 12 appearances since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as interim manager, with the Red Devils now occupying fourth position. Back in September Carragher told Sky Sports: “I don’t know if he’s worth the hassle for what he gives on the pitch. And there’s an idea that it’s one or the other. If Mourinho goes you won’t see a new Pogba, I can assure Manchester United fans of that. “He’s not as a good as he thinks he is. He’s got talent but his big problem is his understanding of the game. It’s been a problem since he arrived and it hasn’t changed now.” Carragher had those comments put back to him on Twitter on Monday and the former Liverpool defender replied on Tuesday morning conceding he was wrong. “Well I hope you completely disagreed at the time & not just now?!!,” Carragher wrote. “He’s been a revelation since OGS came in because he’s basically let him play without defending. “I didn’t see this turn around so I have no problem saying I was wrong.” Well I hope you completely disagreed at the time & not just now?!!
