Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Matteo Guendouzi amid his recent controversial performances for the Gunners.
The French youngster escaped an FA charge despite putting his hands around Neal Maupay’s throat at the end of Arsenal’s loss at Brighton.
There were also reports that the midfielder ‘spent the game taunting Brighton players about the financial disparity between the squads’.
The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that “frustration is mounting” with Guendouzi and “[Mikel] Arteta’s patience is being tested”.
Indeed, the player is believed to have a number of incidents on his charge sheet.
Per the source, “some of his team-mates are also understood to have taken a dim view of some of his antics”. That, in turn, has led to Arteta mulling over the player’s future.
Guendouzi was dropped by Arteta against Newcastle earlier in the season, with the Arsenal boss explaining the move as “tactical”.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Guendouzi’s absence was the result of a bust-up between himself and Arteta during a training camp in Dubai.
Despite all that, it seems Guendouzi could be on the verge of a big move.
Indeed, Le10Sport claims that the 21-year-old ‘interests many clubs’ with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Leicester all thought to be keen.
The report adds that Leicester are ‘particularly attentive’ to Guendouzi and that Real boss Zinedine Zidane ‘loves him very much’.
Barcelona, meanwhile, are understood to be a fan of his ‘technical qualities’.
Arteta reveals new contract close for Arsenal star tipped to ‘explode’
Bukayo Saka will soon become the latest Arsenal player to commit his future to the club, head coach Mikel Arteta believes.
David Luiz signed a new deal on Tuesday, while the Gunners also confirmed loan moves for Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares had been made permanent.
The loan of Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid was also extended to the end of the current season as Arteta was able to keep all the players on board.
Saka, 18, is out of contract next summer and has been one of the few positive elements of an average campaign for Arsenal thus far.
Operating at full-back, as a winger or most recently as part of a central midfield trio, the England Under-19 international has impressed. Although that form has led to interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool.
But Arteta is confident a deal will soon be struck to keep the academy graduate at the Emirates Stadium beyond the summer of 2021. Read more…
