Keane marvels at Arsenal man live; says ‘I wish he was in Man Utd’s midfield’ Roy Keane was so impressed with watching Thomas Partey live on Sunday that he said he wished Manchester United had signed him. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did add to his midfield in the summer with Donny van de Beek arriving. Solskjaer has used Van de Beek sparingly though and he has yet to start in the Premier League. The Dutch star did have a 15-minute cameo against Arsenal at Old Trafford, but it was Partey who caught Keane’s eye. Partey swapped Atletico Madrid for Arsenal on deadline day and he looked every bit a £45m player in a dominant showing. “We said before the game, this guy’s no mug, he’s played for a big club, he’s played in big competitions,” Keane told Sky Sports. “We saw today, when you watch a player live that’s when you can judge a player. “The more I look at him the more I wish he was in Man United’s midfield. “Big, strong, aggressive, obviously going back with Arsenal I had my battles with Patrick Vieira, I think this kid has got a chance of matching what Patrick used to do. “He’s big, he’s strong, he’s aggressive and he likes to pass it forward. He can deal with the ball, he looks comfortable on the ball, just small little details, composure, good first touch, retaining possession, that’s the name of the game.”     Paul Scholes, who was critical of United’s midfield pair Fred and Scott McTominay, was also impressed with Partey. “He’s an all-round midfielder,” Scholes said. “You don’t see many players like that these days. “Midfielders are attacking midfielders or holding midfielders but a midfield players’ job is to do everything. “You have to contribute with everything and today he did a brilliant job in all departments.” Meanwhile, Solskjaer said his time did not turn up. “We were too sloppy, too many passes went astray and the rotation was not there,” said the Norwegian. “Too many things that can go wrong in a game did for us today. Today we didn’t get the response we hopes for.” “I’ll just keep on working. It is a good group that wants to win, go forward and work hard. Today they will go home disappointed but I know these boys and they will get back at it.” READ MORE: Keane fears Solskjaer faces sack; names three stars not good enough The post Keane marvels at Arsenal man live; says ‘I wish he was in Man Utd’s midfield’ appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING

Roy Keane was so impressed with watching Thomas Partey live on Sunday that he said he wished Manchester United had signed him.

He can deal with the ball, he looks comfortable on the ball, just small little details, composure, good first touch, retaining possession, that’s the name of the game.”

Paul Scholes, who was critical of United’s midfield pair Fred and Scott McTominay, was also impressed with Partey.

“He’s an all-round midfielder,” Scholes said.

“You don’t see many players like that these days.

“Midfielders are attacking midfielders or holding midfielders but a midfield players’ job is to do everything.

“You have to contribute with everything and today he did a brilliant job in all departments.”

Meanwhile, Solskjaer said his time did not turn up.

“We were too sloppy, too many passes went astray and the rotation was not there,” said the Norwegian.

“Too many things that can go wrong in a game did for us today. Today we didn’t get the response we hopes for.”

“I’ll just keep on working. It is a good group that wants to win, go forward and work hard. Today they will go home disappointed but I know these boys and they will get back at it.”
