Liverpool have also been mentioned as suitors for Kabak, who still has four years left on his contract with the German club. The Liverpool Echo though have claimed Reds officials are not interested in Kabak. The local paper claims that links with Kabak have “been met with some head scratching” by club officials, for example. A source has told the newspaper that it could simply be “the work of an exuberant agent and a team desperate for the cash.” It is worth pointing out that the paper were misled over the signing of Thiago Alcantara. In September they claimed the Spaniard was “not an active target” only to sign him later in the month. As such, Rhys Williams, 19, made his second Champions League appearance of the season. Klopp has admitted his cover in the form of Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips are “inexperienced”. “We have very young and inexperienced alternatives, and at the moment it looks like we have to choose one of them,” the manager said on Tuesday night. Kabak, a former Galatasaray player, can expect his price tag to soar with two Premier League giants looking at him. Sport1 claim Schalke will need €35m-plus to cut ties with the defender, only a week after €25m was mentioned a price which could push through a sale.
